Shandiin Herrera is a citizen of the Navajo Nation, and is from Monument Valley, Utah. She is a Lead for America Hometown Fellow working as a Policy Analyst and Project Consultant with the Oljato Chapter of the Navajo Nation. Shandiin is a graduate of Duke University. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the Sanford School of Public Policy, and graduated as the 2019 Terry Sanford Leadership Award winner and the American Indian Graduate Center’s Student of The Year. Shandiin also became the first Native American student from Duke University to be selected a Udall Scholar and Udall Intern. Shandiin is Táchii’nii (Red Running Into The Water Clan) and her maternal grandfather is Bit’ahnii (Under His Cover Clan).
