Independence in this age of individualism calls to question what we are independent of.  We are encouraged to increasingly operate independently, for our own good, and for the good of our immediate families. We are encouraged to think that we are Independent in this age of information, when so much of broadcast and paid-for print media (including product marketing and entertainment) encourages us to believe that we are to seek powerful figures to place our trust and admiration in, isolating our focus to help us forget our communities—leading to loneliness found in living by the notion of independent freedom. 

This country is said to have won independence from a dominant country 241 years ago today. 
From freeing ourselves from the tyranny of another, this nation was "born."

If we were "born" as a nation to escape "tyranny" all those years ago, we are still very young compared to the Nations that are currently established on Earth. America is turning into the parent-nation it deplored, demonstrating too many of the once-tyrannical parent-nation's worst traits. These United States have always repeated the same tactics of slavery, exploitation, and propaganda—the "tyranny" that we "liberated ourselves from" in order to exist. This independent child-nation has introduced Energy Addiction and Dependence to the rest of the world—that is the force it is designed to run us all to death on—the "chains of tyranny" remain firmly established. 

The physical reality of American independence and freedom translate to the ability each individual and household have to afford being slaves of convenience, or much worse. That is the privilege we are all encouraged to maintain at the expense of the lives of others.

The "birth" of this "nation" tells us that we exist because we as a nation are to continue to use everything and everyone who were here before we got here. This in practice includes the millions of others the first "liberated" Americans brought here in chains, and the ancestors of all these nations of people who have been exploited—to continue our American existence as a "free" nation, and to disregard the lives and generations of the exploited peoples and lands, because that is the game. That is how this "independent" young nation represented by a corporate administration works, as though this were a game of winners and losers, of dominance and submission. 

It is convenient to fall in line with this thinking, it is the easy way to continue living for this generation, and maybe the next. It is easy to think that the ancestors of the first "liberated" Americans all continue to live this way as well, that is part of the game. 

The Birth of Consciousness

Over the past year millions of people have begun to consciously acknowledge and live by the belief that the Earth is our Mother, and to honor and recognize the Indigenous people of this planet who have always said this. It is not a new idea, it is one that many people say they have always known, but the belief and direct association between the land and the body of Mother, was what this nation really took it's life force from.

Though American Independence has been a powerful concept exercised on a global scale—a concept is something that exists in the mind. We have all heard "mind over matter" in repeating ways through the centuries, as a mantra for surviving the greatest tests of personal strength to meditation and prayer. Our minds are still connected to our bodies. Our bodies are still connected to our environments. Our consciousness is still connected to the communities we pay attention to increasingly in social networks, and those we live among regionally—all of it is interconnected. Conviction, prayer and meditation alone will not stop what is happening in America today, and the tyranny that the American idea of  "liberty" has brought to much of the rest of the world.

Jefferson got that one right, we are rising to liberate our minds. Many of us are awake and we are rising, as the sea levels are rising. We are as a people reflecting what is happening as the ice caps melt. We are all connected to this, demonstrated either by our resolve to stay awake and let the warm truth of connection melt many of the hollow ideals this country was founded upon, or to try and remain frozen in order to uphold those incomplete concepts of what life and liberty mean.

If we are unable to stop these oil companies from drilling, to stop the fracking and tar-sands prongs of the oil industry, to stop the coal mining and all these extractive processes that demonstrate how far the American concept of "liberty" has moved past REASON, and how that applies to our LIVES... if we are unable to stop these things, the waters will still rise. The Earth is more powerful than we are. And we are no more Independent of Her, or of the tyranny of empire than we ever were.

One thing we have never done as humans in these United States of America is rise up together, take all of each other and the cumulative affect of our national and generational history into account, and work together for the sake of LIFE. We started to come together at Standing Rock, and we learned a lot. We are all connected and we found real and resonating strength in that. Prayers and meditation help us move together if we act on them together. #StayWoke

The injustices of false "liberty" are clear. No matter what is used to dominate us, our homes these lands, and the futures for all children, we are becoming coherent about the truth of LIFE. When you hear the fireworks tonight, remember the power of the storm we are when we work together. We are independent in one thing truly, the intention we live by and the choices we make each day.
