If I’m eatin’, WE eatin’
— mayam, Land Steward and Program Director, Ancestral Acres Farm & Garden

A STORY THROUGH SEASONS: YEAR 1

Ancestral Acres Farm and Garden has been years of reflection, learning, and embodied practice through mayam’s personal experience as a Black farmer who has experience caring for lands around the country.

Mayam stewards a quarter acre of Tiwa land with Queer and Trans community in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

OUR BEGINNING : LAND, WATER, SEEDS AND LOVE

Through loving stewardship and a lineage of knowledge, Ancestral Acres Farm & Garden bridges the past while preparing for the future midst increasing drought and escalating climate change.

SEED BABIES TAKING ROOT IN THEIR NEW HOME

We invite folks to reflect on their relationship to the land they are currently inhabiting, their relationships to their communities and to the waters that we interact with.

TENDING THE BEAUTIFUL NEW LIFE ON THE FARM

Ancestral Acres Farm & Garden can be a blueprint for community care, needed healing and collective nourishment.

THE GENEROUS LAND AND A BOUNTY TO SHARE

We hope that folks will feel inspired, curious about learning food ways, and reflect on what - and how - we grow. It all starts with a seed - hope, love, and care.

What will you nurture?

A RETURN TO SEEDS AND THEIR CYCLE OF WISDOM

What lies in the core of the seed is memory. Memory of the season, what was, and the generosity that took it to become. How can we model the generosity of the seed in our daily lives?
