Midst Winter, a Time of Generosity
Greetings!
I know it’s been a hot minute since we last checked in! There has been a vast shift here at Ancestral Acres Farm and Garden. Acknowledging the shift of the seasons, the beauty of stillness in the winter months, and the transition into darker days has allowed for the wonderful moments of reflection. Has the winter called you to reflect as well?
Lately, there has been this consistent theme of the month, which to me I tried to not pass off as cheesy, or cliche. This theme has been the vulnerable gift of generosity, that has the power to heal us and change our lives. Isn’t it odd that generosity would come at a time of darkness and quiet? And yet here it is, the act of generosity, the thought of kindness, the urge to share and to give unto others as the Land is continuously giving so much to us.
With that being said, I have wonderful news! As many of y’all know I have had the opportunity to grow plants for seed saving/sharing and these plants have been quite generous indeed! Following the lesson of the plants I am longing to share seeds with you, if you have the curiosity to learn from the plants, grow together and witness the miracle of tender plant beings!
If you would like to receive seeds from Ancestral Acres Farm and Garden please let me know! Feel free to email me at mayam@seedingsovereignty.org. I am best reached by email so I encourage you to reach out in that way. I want to share with y’all that I am prioritizing QTBIPOC2S communities and growers as many of these seeds are from Indigenous communities specific to the Southwest and there is a vast legacy and cultural importance tied to these seeds. So if you are interested, identify as QTBIPOC2S or live in the Southwest please reach out! I will communicate with y’all next steps about the process of seed sharing, share the list of seeds I currently have with me, and begin to send them out to you!
Until next time! May you all find rest, belonging, and a sense of ease!
