COMMUNITY WELLNESS AND MUTUAL AID

Empower communities with wellness sovereignty. Support the Mutual Aid Apothecary Network.

At Seeding Sovereignty, we believe in building a liberatory wellness system rooted in community care, ecological stewardship, and rapid response to crises. Through our Mutual Aid Program, we empower BIPOC and gender-expansive individuals with the skills, resources, and support to become herbalists and community healers in the face of escalating climate and social injustices.

Your contribution fuels a dynamic network of frontline healers dedicated to ecological care and collective liberation. With your support, we can continue to grow and distribute herbal medicines, fund grassroots apothecaries, and provide critical training to individuals ready to transform their communities.

Together, we’re reclaiming traditional knowledge, reducing health disparities, and building resilient wellness systems that stand outside of extractive healthcare models.

OUR INITIATIVES

Grassroots Herbalism for a Resilient Future

At Seeding Sovereignty, our Mutual Aid Apothecary Network offers a transformative solution. By providing hands-on training, critical resources, and funding, we empower individuals to reclaim traditional herbal knowledge and build autonomous wellness systems. Through skill-building workshops, herbal medicine rapid response initiatives, and our Seed Grant program, we equip communities to care for themselves and their neighbors during both immediate crises and long-term recovery efforts.

Our program addresses these urgent needs by:

  • Distributing herbal first aid kits to those affected by disasters like hurricanes and floods.

  • Offering educational workshops that teach individuals to craft herbal remedies for personal and community resilience.

  • Funding grassroots apothecaries and herbal gardens, creating local hubs of care and healing.

Medicine Wheels: Mutual Aid in Action

Seeding Sovereignty was on the ground responding to the global pandemic since March 2020 and saw firsthand its disproportionate and devastating impact on Indigenous communities. We launched the rapid response Indigenous Impact Community Care Initiative On April 10, 2020. By November 2020 as the pandemic raged, our young people were wading through foreseeable uncertainties while grappling with COVID frontline challenges as Indigenous students, care providers, and in many cases, sources of income for household survival. COVID-19 forced children, teens, and young adults to completely rearrange their lives to ensure the safety of themselves and others - midst little to no programming to address the extreme toll on their mental health and isolation. Our Medicine Wheels Global Giving campaign launched November 2020 and raised funds for gear and inspired a 5K donation that we used to gift gear to 31 Indigenous youths at the Native American Friendship House.
